Finishing up week three of my summer class.  We've all put in a great deal of work towards building out the module pages on our class wiki.  We've conducted a ton of research on Web 2.0 tools and applications in a short amount of time, and I think our class wiki site is looking pretty good.  Check out all of the module pages we've created...neat stuff : )

I'm also enjoying the new folks I'm following on Twitter.  My PLC continues to grow...as does my devotion to Twitter!  I also decided to start a blog site targeting my professional and student life.  I was combining work and school with personal life posts on the one blog I maintained and thought maybe it was time to give each its own area.  Thus...you are reading my newest blog : )

Flock 07/30/2008

I posted about Flock on my other blog, but since I'm attempting to keep my professional and personal blog thoughts separated now, I thought I should add my Flock thoughts to the Weebly.

So here they are...Flock...love it! : )  Seriously, it's a great browser for those of us keeping up with several social network ingtools...like Twitter.  Give it a try.

Busy Two Weeks! 07/25/2008

Wow!  I can't believe how quickly two weeks can fly by!  I'm finishing up my second week of my summer class (IDT 7078) and it's been a whirlwind of Web 2.0 activity!  During our class on July 17th, Dr, Mims was out of town and wanted to join our class via Skype and Ustream.  Dr. Mims asked if I could help set things up on our end in the AIM Lab.  Having previously used both tools, I agreed to give it a try.  Minus a couple of kinks with Skype (totally due to me being a little rusty using the tool) our class ran smoothly.  We were able to have two guest speakers join us through Skype.  Without the technology, the chances of us getting to meet and talk with these two IDT experts were probably fairly slim as they both are located in different parts of the country.  One of the benefits I found from recording the class is that I was able to go back and watch the two archived sessions in order to review  over the discussion we had concerning our assigned modules.  I missed a few chuncks of information that evening due to my multitasking with the technology we were utilizing, and the archives were a great resource for me the next day when I was attempting to get my notes together regarding my assigned parts of the module project.

It was a fun and interesting experience...although I was a little anxious about getting all the of technology to cooperate.  We pulled it off though, thanks to the help of my fellow IDT 7078 classmates.  We truly put into practice what we are learning about in this class with the use of two great Web 2.0 applications!

Fusion 2008 07/23/2008

Just finished up the three day D2L Fusion 2008 conference.  Lots of great presenters and sessions! Hope to post more resources as I uncover them in my notes.  A google search of #fusion08D2L will provide some great links as well.

Sketchcast.com 07/17/2008

Paragraph.

I found this application several months ago.  It reminds me of the guy in the UPS commercials who draws on the whiteboard.  I've tested it out, and it's pretty neat.  I'm not much of an artist though : )  Try it out at www.sketchcast.com

IDT 7078 07/16/2008

Started my summer class last night with Dr. Mims.  IDT 7078 focuses on Web 2.0 technologies and what better way to express my thoughts than by using the Weebly ; - )  We are using another cool Web 2.0 tool for a secondary CMS....wetpaint.  Really neat tool that includes wiki space.  Check it out at www.wetpaint.com.
