Wow! I can't believe how quickly two weeks can fly by! I'm finishing up my second week of my summer class (IDT 7078) and it's been a whirlwind of Web 2.0 activity! During our class on July 17th, Dr, Mims was out of town and wanted to join our class via Skype and Ustream. Dr. Mims asked if I could help set things up on our end in the AIM Lab. Having previously used both tools, I agreed to give it a try. Minus a couple of kinks with Skype (totally due to me being a little rusty using the tool) our class ran smoothly. We were able to have two guest speakers join us through Skype. Without the technology, the chances of us getting to meet and talk with these two IDT experts were probably fairly slim as they both are located in different parts of the country. One of the benefits I found from recording the class is that I was able to go back and watch the two archived sessions in order to review over the discussion we had concerning our assigned modules. I missed a few chuncks of information that evening due to my multitasking with the technology we were utilizing, and the archives were a great resource for me the next day when I was attempting to get my notes together regarding my assigned parts of the module project.
It was a fun and interesting experience...although I was a little anxious about getting all the of technology to cooperate. We pulled it off though, thanks to the help of my fellow IDT 7078 classmates. We truly put into practice what we are learning about in this class with the use of two great Web 2.0 applications!
